Horse Tracks: Ronnie Hillman the starter, but will split carries with C.J. Anderson

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

On Thursday, Gary Kubiak confirmed that Ronnie Hillman would start at running back for the Denver Broncos, but alluded to the fact that C.J. Anderson would definitely receive a good share of the carries today against the Indianapolis Colts.

Hillman was listed as questionable with an injury, but Kubiak was unconcerned saying, "No, he practiced yesterday and he's a little sore. He's got a thigh bruise. He did enough today, but he didn't take his full load. I expect him to take his full load tomorrow."

He followed up his comments by talking about both Hillman and Anderson's role today saying, "Yeah, absolutely. Ronnie will start the game, just like he did last week, but I see them both as ones. They played pretty much right down the middle. We know how C.J. responded. Juwan looks good this week, too. I want to get him involved. I think when he's had the opportunity to touch the ball this year he's done some good things. [We have] just had a hard time keeping him healthy."

Personally, I think this all bodes well for C.J. Anderson who seemed to shy away from the lime light. As a "second stringer" he ripped off 14 runs for over 100 yards last week against the Green Bay Packers, so I'm perfectly happy to have him be 1B in terms of the depth chart.

He and Hillman should both have another big game against the Colts today.
