Everyone in this game will likely be leaning on the Arizona Cardinals hard after the Minnesota Vikings received a shellacking at home against the Seattle Seahawks. Whatever hype the Vikings might have had vanished in that beating. Meanwhile, the Cardinals are riding a six game winning streak that included stretch where they played four road games in five weeks.
The Cardinals are a good football team, but I think they are a one and done kind of playoff team - especially if their first game is against the Seahawks. The Cardinals have struggled this year against playoff teams, but have come out mostly on the winning end of those struggles, so its hard to nail down what I don't trust about them. It's a gut feeling.
There is even an outside chance the Seahawks win the division and it really isn't that far outside the realm of possibility. Say the Cardinals lose tonight, they play the Philadelphia Eagles next, but then have the Green Bay Packers and Seattle Seahawks to close the season.
Tonight will go a long way to showing me what this Cardinals team is made of. As for the Vikings, they may limp into the playoffs with Teddy Bridgewater, but he hasn't looked very good in recent weeks. They need to set him up for some easy reads and pound the hell out of the Cardinals run defense with Adrian Peterson.
I think the Vikings respond to their embarrassing home defeat with a tough defensive battle on the road tonight. Ultimately, I think they still lose, but its closer than people will expect.
Prediction: Cardinals 20, Vikings 17
