In a battle of last place teams, I see potential for a shootout. Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints throw the ball as much as anyone in the league and the Detroit Lions pass defense is suspect, which means there could be some big plays in this game. The Saints defense is historically bad, so Matthew Stafford should have a good day throwing the ball as well.
Offensively, the Saints success flows through the arm of Brees and he loves throwing the ball down the field. He has plenty of weapons to choose from, so the Lions defense will have their hands full. For the Lions, they can choose to run or pass and should find plenty of success in both arenas. The Lions are 4-9 for a reason, however, and I expect them to beat themselves as much as they beat the Saints defense.
I see the Saints defense coming up with a few big plays to push the tide in the right direction. The Lions will catch up late, but Brees will find a way to keep it a score lead with time running out.
Prediction: Saints 31, Lions 21
