Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas had a rough Sunday night despite the Broncos coming away with the thrilling victory. He only had one reception despite being targeted 13 times by quarterback Brock Osweiler, and he also had multiple drops. Yes, the weather was bad, but that wasn't stopping Emmanuel Sanders and other players from catching the ball.
Head Coach Gary Kubiak expects Thomas to have a bounce back performance this weekend against the division rival San Diego Chargers.
"I think that it's part of the game. Nobody felt worse than him the other night. He wants to make every play. That's the type of competitor that he is. I expect him to come back this week and make those plays. That's part of it. You struggle sometimes and your teammates have to pick up the slack for you and his did. That's what being a team is all about. I have a lot of confidence in him and I'm looking forward to him bouncing back this week."
The Chargers are a favorable matchup for the Broncos and Thomas. They're allowing a quarterback rating of 100.7 to opposing quarterbacks, and Thomas has been Osweiler's top target in back to back weeks. Also, on the season Thomas has 72 receptions for 911 yards with five more games to go. He's on pace for another season with 100+ receptions and 1,300+ receiving yards. So let's not be too down on our star receiver.
Thomas says that putting in the extra work, and concentrating more will help him bounce back this weekend.
"I don't know. I guess it's just putting in work. There were passes I dropped that I should have caught, but I think it's concentrating more, putting in the extra work and having my team behind me. They gave me extra motivation. I think that's one of the reasons."
Let's hope Thomas comes out and has a big game against the Chargers on Sunday.
