This week has me a bit nervous as I am rolling with far too many road teams for my liking, but I just can't help but like the spots these road teams are in when it comes to their needing a win to stay in the playoff hunt and how hot those teams have been in recent weeks.
The only no-brainer picks for me this week was taking the Chicago Bears over the San Francisco 49ers and the Cincinnati Bengals over the Cleveland Browns. The Bears are playing really good football and the 49ers just can't be trusted, while the Bengals are clearly the superior team to the Browns despite being on the road.
The rest have a varying degree of risk. The least risky pick was taking the Arizona Cardinals over the St. Louis Rams, because almost everyone will be picking the Cardinals with me. The risk is that the Rams tend to play their division rivals really tough. The rest of the picks are toss-ups in my opinion.
I took the Houston Texans over the Buffalo Bills because the Texans are red hot lately. I went with the Baltimore Ravens over the Miami Dolphins, because the Ravens play like a playoff-caliber team that has a lot of pride. The Seattle Seahawks are in must-win mode on the road against the Minnesota Vikings, but they could easily lose that game. The best game of the week should be the showdown in New York between the Giants and Jets. I really want to pick the Jacksonville Jaguars over the Tennessee Titans, but they just don't seem to know how to win close football games yet. And finally, I've come to the realization that the Atlanta Falcons suck and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are better than people think.
Who are you rooting for in these early games?
