NFL Draft: Broncos are high on Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson

CSU quarterback Garrett Grayson seems to be a favorite of the Broncos.

According to longtime NFL Draft Analyst Tony Pauline, the Denver Broncos are high on Colorado State quarterback Garrett Grayson.

Quarterback prospect Garrett Grayson held his pro day on Monday, and a number of teams including the Denver Broncos attended his workout. Grayson ran a 40-yard dash in the 4.5 and 4.6 range and, completed 71 of 74 passes, according to Pauline. He displayed both touch as well as the ability to throw the ball with velocity today, and the reviews of his Pro Day have been positive.

It makes sense that the Broncos would be interested in Grayson. I believe he would be a good fit in Head Coach Gary Kubiak's offense, and this is more than likely quarterback Peyton Manning's final year in the NFL. Also, General Manager John Elway always does his due diligence on the quarterback class in the upcoming draft class.

However, Pauline dropped a bomb at the end of his report that may upset some Broncos fans. If the Broncos draft Garrett Grayson, it could spell the end of quarterback Brock Osweiler's tenure in Denver.

"The team that seems to be highest on Grayson is the hometown Denver Broncos. The feeling is Grayson is the most capable of running the system that Gary Kubiak will employ in Denver; a system similar to the one Grayson ran at Colorado State. He also has the arm strength necessary to get the ball through the cutting winds that often blow through the Mile High City. There’s also a strong belief Brock Osweiler, who’s in the final year of his rookie contract, won’t be with Denver after this season."

The Broncos aren't the only ones who are showing interest in Grayson. According to Pauline, 13 teams were on hand to watch his Pro Day, and the Cleveland Browns took him out to dinner the night before. Grayson also has private workouts scheduled with the San Diego Chargers, St. Louis Rams and Buffalo Bills.

Obviously the big news here is the nugget about Osweiler. He's entering the final year of his contract and there hasn't been any talk of an extension between the two sides. The Broncos have reportedly been looking for quarterbacks this offseason. They were connected to Grayson and Bryce Petty at the Senior Bowl, and now are reportedly really interested in Grayson's services. Also, free-agent quarterback Tyrod Taylor reportedly turned down a contract offer from the Broncos last week to sign with the Buffalo Bills.

If this is indeed Osweiler's final season in Denver, it would make sense for the Broncos to deal him leading up to/during next month's NFL Draft. They could deal him for a mid to late round draft choice, or deal him along with some draft picks to move up for a quarterback in the draft.
