Broncos reportedly looking to add another tight end following injury to Heuerman

The Broncos are looking to find a replacement for their third round pick.

According to ESPN's Jeff Legwold, the Denver Broncos are looking to add another tight end following the season-ending injury to rookie tight end Jeff Heuerman. He says that he could see the Broncos signing a tight end this week, and even as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday of this week.

The Broncos have been busy adding tight ends to the roster this offseason. They re-signed Virgil Green prior to the opening of free agency, and veteran Owen Daniels in the opening minutes of free agency. Then they signed rookie tight end Joe Don Duncan and veteran James Casey in the following weeks. They weren't done yet, they spent a third-round draft choice on tight end Jeff Heuerman. Unfortunately, Heuerman tore his ACL during this weekend rookie minicamp and will miss the 2015 season. So now the Broncos need to find themselves a replacement for their rookie.

If they decide to go the veteran route, there is still a few good players available on the market. According to Rotoworld's best remaining free agents list veteran tight ends Jermaine Gresham and Zach Miller are the best remaining tight ends on the market. However, both are currently rehabbing serious injuries.

Gresham underwent surgery on a herniated disc in March, and will be sidelined for quite a while this offseason. Zach Miller is coming off his second ankle surgery in a year and is expected to miss the majority of the offseason program while he recovers.

Another name to keep an eye on is recently released tight end Nick Kasa. He is still recovering from an ACL injury that he suffered during Training Camp with the Oakland Raiders last August. He's a 6'6", 265lb tight end who is a solid blocker. If healthy he could be the type of tight end the Broncos are looking for.

If the Broncos decide against going the veteran route, there is still a number of undrafted rookie tight ends available on the free agent market. They did have rookie tight end Brock Lutes from Bemidji St. in for a try-out this past weekend. It will be interesting to see if the Broncos liked what they saw from him.
