Horse Tracks: Day 3 thoughts

Good Morning Broncos Country!

Matt Kartozian-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos in recent history have been done very well on day three on the NFL Draft. In 2011, they drafted Julius Thomas in the fourth round, and Virgil Green in the 7th round. In 2012, they came away with Malik Jackson and Danny Trevathan in the fifth and sixth rounds, and Omar Bolden in the fourth round. They also took Matt Paradis last year in the sixth round, and he very well might be our starting center this season.

Who will be the Broncos steal on day three this year?

The Broncos should draft Jay Ajayi:

I know most of you are against drafting running backs, but Ajayi would be a steal if he's there at our fourth round pick.

He is my second favorite back in this draft, and would be a great fourth round pick.

Best Available Players:

Quarterbacks: Brett Hundley and Bryce Petty

If the Broncos do indeed want a quarterback these two are the best of the rest. I wouldn't mind either of them in the fourth round.

My money is on Bonner in the 5th or 6th round.

Running backs: Jay Ajayi, David Cobb, and Jeremy Langford

I think that the Broncos are going to draft a back at some point today. My two choices would be Jay Ajayi(see above) and David Cobb. I believe Cobb would be a perfect fit in Gary Kubiak's offense.

Zach Zenner is a late round option to watch

Wide Receivers: Tre McBride, Stefon Diggs, and Rashad Greene

I'm surprised that all three are still available at this point. All three should go quickly in the fourth round today.

Tight ends: Nick O'Leary and Blake Bell

I think that the Broncos are(finally) done adding tight ends to this roster, but who knows with Kubiak.

Offensive tackles: La'el Collins and T.J. Clemmings

If you would have told me a week ago that Clemmings and Collins would both be available on day 3 I would have called you some rude names, but here we are.

Collins is likely to go undrafted at this point. He has threatened not to sign any contract if he wasn't picked during yesterday's portion of the draft. Plus the whole murder cloud hanging over him. It's a tough situation for him(if innocent).

T.J. Clemmings medicals must be pretty bad. I still wouldn't mind the Broncos spending a day three pick on him

Guards: Jarvis Harrison, Tre Jackson and Mark Giowinsk

I expect the Broncos to come away with a couple interior guys today. When and who is the big question.

Centers: Max Garcia, Reese Dismukes, Shaq Mason, and Andy Gallik

I'll be surprised if one of the names mentioned weren't a Denver Broncos player by days end

Defensive ends: Marcus Hardison, Ray Drew, and Gabe Wright

I don't see a ton of 5-tech guys left. Marcus Hardison is probably the best one left. Gabe Wright is another interesting option.

Nose Tackle: Grady Jarrett, Michael Bennett, Ellis McCarthy and Joey Mbu

I'm shocked that Grady Jarrett fell this far. Someone is going to get a damn good football player. Same with Bennett.

I think the Broncos come away with a nose tackle at some point.

Outside linebacker: Kyle Emmanuel, Davis Tull, Zach Hodges and Max Valles

After getting Ray in the first round, I do not think we're adding another edge rusher.

Inside linebacker: Ramik Wilson, Taiwan Jones, Jake Ryan, Haynes Pullard, and Ben Heeney

The Broncos are hurting at inside linebacker right now. I'd love to add Taiwan Jones or Jake Ryan to the mix.

Cornerbacks: Charles Gaines, Ifo Ekpre-Olomu, Josh Shaw, Kevin White, and Doran Grant

Overall I think the Broncos are set at corner. I wouldn't mind taking a flier on Ifo.

Safety: Derron Smith, Anthony Harris, Adrian Amos, Kurtis Drummond, Gerod Holliman, and Chris Hackett

Safety is another position I could see being adding on day 3. I wouldn't mind a player like Amos.
