Nominate 'Broncos' for the 2015 MHR Hall of Fame

New, comments

The reason we all gather here - whether it is every day, every week or just on game days - is because of 53 men who suit up in Orange and Blue for 16 weeks (and hopefully a couple more) each season as well as the coaches and execs who help prepare them. Over the decades, the Broncos have been blessed with a more talented roster than many of their rivals and so we want to highlight the best of the best.

Who are the greatest Denver Broncos players, coaches, executives, and fans to ever don the orange and blue?

You tell us.

In our second induction into the newly-minted Mile High Report Hall of Fame, fans will once again choose the Broncos who will be enshrined in our virtual, hallowed halls.

The four Broncos chosen for the inaugural class - Floyd Little, Randy Gradishar, John Elway and Terrell Davis - are no longer eligible (for obvious reasons!)

For the full rundown of the Mile High Report Hall of Fame (including rules), please see our announcement post earlier today.

Beginning now, we are accepting nominations for the Broncos category. Ideal Broncos candidates are those who had a real-life impact on the Denver Broncos organization. An ideal candidate is someone whose name is synonymous with the orange and blue, a name many members of Broncos Country would recognize.

Broncos who are eligible for the Pro Football Hall of Fame and Denver Broncos Ring of Fame would be examples of candidates for the Broncos category in the Mile High Report Hall of Fame.

Current active players and personnel associated with the team are not eligible. To be considered, a Bronco must be removed from association with the Denver Broncos Football Club (retired, cut, traded, fired, etc.) for at least four years.

How to nominate

In short, leave a comment!

You can nominate a member of Broncos Country by leaving a comment below. There are three easy ways to do this:

  • In the subject line, write, "I nominate [Broncos name]" and in the body of your comment, note the reasoning behind your nomination.
  • Quickly leave your nomination in the subject line and then work on the reasoning for your nomination as a reply to your original comment.
  • Write a Fanpost - which is highly encouraged to get more visibility and support - and then link it to a comment in this post. For example, last year a Fanpost nominating Randy Gradishar did an excellent job highlighting all of the linebacker's contributions and production while a Bronco.

Example nomination:

Comment subject: I nominate Rod Smith.

Comment body (optional): Nobody worked harder or had more to prove than Smith ...

How to support a nomination

Support a MHR Hall of Fame nomination by recommending (rec'ing) the comment. You can also reply to a nomination to add more content to a nominee's package. These will be compiled and included in the next phase, voting.

How nominees advance

The top 15 candidates with the most recs (minimum 4 recs) will advance to the next phase of the selection process, fan voting, to begin Friday, July 10. Nominations close Monday, July 6.

Good luck to every Broncos candidate, and thank you for helping us tell the tale of Broncos history from the fans' point of view!
