The Broncos third-round pick in last month's NFL Draft tore his ACL during the team's rookie minicamp earlier last month and is expected to miss the entire 2015 season.
Despite Heuerman's unfortunate injury, the Broncos remain confident in him and expect him ready for the teams offseason workout program next offseason.
"I feel terrible for Jeff and this is a very unfortunate situation," Head Coach Gary Kubiak said. "Jeff was going to be a big part of our team this year, and he's still going to be a big part of our team and organization in the future. He'll get well and be with us as part of this team throughout his rehabilitation."
Tight ends Virgil Green and Owen Daniels are expected to be the teams starters this season. Heuerman was expected to compete for the third team tight end position. This leaves veterans James Casey, Domonique Jones, Marcel Jensen and rookie Joe Don Duncan to help make up for the loss of Heuerman.
With the signing of Heuerman now complete, the Broncos now have signed all of their 2015 NFL Draft class.
