Several NFL teams have called free agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne about his services, according to a report from ESPN.com's Mike Wells.
Wayne, of course, played for over a decade with Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning in Indianapolis. The Colts chose to not re-sign Wayne this offseason.
At age 36, Wayne is the same age Brandon Stokley was when he signed with the Broncos in 2012. Like Wayne, Stokley had familiarity with Manning.
As a slot receiver, Stokley caught 45 passes for 544 yards and five scores that season.
Wayne, however, may not be as healthy as Stokley was. Wayne battled an elbow injury and torn triceps in 2014, and he had surgery on his triceps this offseason, according to Wells.
The Broncos seemingly have no need for Wayne, as their receiver depth chart already includes Demaryius Thomas, Emmanuel Sanders, Cody Latimer, Andre Caldwell, Jordan Norwood, Nathan Palmer, and Isaiah Burse, among others.
But if any openings come up at receiver down the road — due to injuries or otherwise — Wayne will remain a potential option for Denver.
Wayne caught 64 passes for 779 yards and two scores last season. He is intent on playing one final season this fall.
"I guess in due time we'll figure out where it is," he said.
