Horse Tracks: Manning says he feels good and fresh

Good Morning Broncos Country!

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

After a 2014 season where Peyton Manning's play declined in the second half of the season because of injury and wear and tear, he focused on his health and body this offseason.

Manning worked with a world renowned career extending trainer and he worked with the Broncos coaches on his diet and workout regime.

"Nothing really stopped, I guess. I just focused on a couple things. Meeting with Bryan Snyder, who is our nutritionist, and Strength and Conditioning Coach Luke Richesson and kind of creating a plan—that’s really something that the entire Broncos have done for all players—kind of an emphasis through the training room that they’re providing for all players. There is a little more knowledge there going off some of the tests that we’ve done. I think it’s something that’s going to be good for a lot of players, but I think it’s helped me definitely this offseason. Hopefully it pays off for me this season."

Another thing that changed this offseason for Manning was his workload.

Head Coach Gary Kubiak has been giving Peyton Manning some extra time off during OTA's, minicamp, and now Training Camp. The plan here is to make sure Manning does overwork himself and help his body and arm fresh for the season.

So far everything Manning has done, and the extra rest he is receiving is paying off. Manning says he feels fresh and his arm feels good.

Yeah, I do feel good. I’ve had a good offseason of training and kind of body maintenance, health, nutrition. I’ve done some things a little bit differently and leaned down a little bit. I do feel good moving out there. My arm feels pretty good. It’s nice when you can work hard in the offseason and it pays off where you feel pretty good. Obviously, the idea is you want to keep feeling good throughout the season."

Manning's teammates have noticed a difference too. Receiver Demaryius Thomas and cornerback Chris Harris Jr. say Manning's arm looks stronger this year, and that he looks good.

Hopefully, all this pays off in November, December, January, and hopefully into February.
