Broncos waive offensive tackle Connor Rains and sign offensive tackle Charles Sweeton

The Broncos replace the injured Rains with Charles Sweeton on the roster.

Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports

According to the Denver Broncos, the team has announced that they have waived injured rookie offensive tackle Connor Rains and signed offensive tackle Charles Sweeton.

Rains injured his foot during the first day of Training Camp practice. He was an undrafted rookie fighting for a roster spot or a spot on the team's practice squad.

Charles Sweeton is a 6'5", 303lb offensive tackle from Tennessee-Martin. Sweeton went undrafted during the 2015 NFL Draft. He did sign with the Kansas City Chiefs after the draft, but was waived after the team's rookie minicamp.

Sweeton is a longshot to make the Broncos roster, but will provide some extra depth at the offensive tackle position during Training Camp and the preseason.
