Broncos sign NT Sione Fua; Waive P Karl Schmitz

The writing was on the wall the moment Britton Colquitt decided to have a fire sale on his contract. Sorry Karl, we barely knew you.

Per the Denver Broncos,

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — The Denver Broncos on Thursday signed nose tackle Sione Fua and waived punter Karl Schmitz, it was announced.
Fua (6-1, 310 pounds) is a fifth-year player who spent time with Denver during the 2013 season, appearing in two games for the club. He also played for Carolina (2011-13) and Cleveland (2014) after being selected by the Panthers in the third round (97th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft from Stanford University.
In 40 career regular-season games (12 starts), Fua has totaled 35 tackles (15 solo) and one forced fumble. He collected one tackle in his two games with the Broncos in 2013 after being signed by the team on Nov. 27.
Fua saw action in 50 games (31 starts) for Stanford, totaling 80 tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery for the Cardinal.
A graduate of Crespi Carmelite High School in Encino, Calif., Fua was born on June 15, 1988.

This move really does come as no surprise. The moment Colquitt essentially halved his contract, we all knew that it would take a major miracle for Karl Schmitz to remain on the team. Well, as of right now, it looks like the youtube star's Broncos tenure has officially come to a conclusion.

But when we mark the end of a player's tenure on our team, it usually is met by the beginning of another. Welcome to Denver Sione Fua. Don't forget to hydrate as your body gets acclimated to the altitude.
