After Thursday night's victory over the division rival Kansas City Chiefs, many people believe the Broncos should ditch Kubiak's offense and go back to Manning's shotgun offense.
While I believe that's probably best in the short term, Kubiak's offense needs to start working in the long run if the Broncos want to make any noise in December, January, and hopefully February.
Must Reads
I say this because Manning's offense has proven to be a success and a failure at the same time. It often works well in the first half of the season, but goes downhill when the weather gets colder and Manning's body begins to wear down. This is why the Broncos need Kubiak's offense to work.
Manning has attempted 85 passes in two games for the Broncos. This is exactly what the Broncos wanted to avoid this season. General Manager John Elway and Head Coach Gary Kubiak preached balance on offense all offseason, but the Broncos are once again relying on Manning's arm too much. If this continues, we will probably see a repeat of the 2014 season.
This means the Broncos need to fix their offensive line woes quickly. This would hopefully get the Broncos run game going, and keep Manning from being hit and sacked.
Getting the run game going would allow the Broncos offense to be more balanced and keep Manning's arm fresh for the second half of the season and hopefully the playoffs.
Head Coach Gary Kubiak is going to demand himself, the players and his fellow coaches to get the run game going.
"It just has to be demanded. If you're going to be physical as a football team, then you've got to stay committed and demand it. It's not good enough. I'm very disappointed. I look at myself—okay, what are we doing? I go to the coaches— are we putting ourselves in the right positions? And I go to the players and say this is either good enough or not good enough. That's our approach and I'm going to demand that we be a physical football team and that we line up and can get a yard. I'm not going to run away from that. Regardless of what happens, we're going to work through that and demand that we get it done."
With the Lions, Vikings, Raiders, and Browns next on the Broncos schedule, I expect the Broncos to get their running woes fixed and head undefeated into their bye week.
