The Denver Broncos are set to take on their second NFC North opponent in two weeks. After dismantling a desperate Detroit Lions team on the road, they'll set their sights on the Minnesota Vikings at home.
The Broncos are 7-point favorites Sunday, according to two betting sites in SB Nation's NFL odds page and 6.5-point favorites in two others, a decent swing from their initial 4.5 opening line. That means bettors have started spending on the Broncos, and that the public is gaining confidence in Peyton Manning and company.
Or maybe that confidence is actually placed in Denver's defense, which has held all three opponents to under 17 points and has 10 takeaways in three weeks.
"It's been special," Broncos coach Gary Kubiak said of the Broncos defense. "We have a long way to go, but it's been special because it's been deep with a lot of guys playing and it has a special thing about when it gets its hands on the football, which it does a great deal. ... It's like [CB] Chris [Harris Jr.] picking up the blocked extra point [Sunday] night and almost taking it all the way back. We have those types of athletes and those types of athletes rushing the passer. Let's keep it going. It's been special for three weeks."
