There are plenty current Denver Broncos that I think could one day end up in the Ring of Fame. From obvious picks like Von Miller, Demaryius Thomas or Chris Harris Jr. to more unheralded guys like Derek Wolfe or Brandon Marshall. With the salary cap and free agency it's impossible to tell if these players will play out their careers in Denver, so why not look at some of the veterans on the roster?
Only one name stuck out to me. Peyton Manning.
Most Broncos fans still consider him an Indianapolis Colts legend whom John Elway just "rented" for a few years, but imagine this scenario for a second.
Say Manning and the Broncos beat the New England Patriots this weekend, then win again two weeks later in the Super Bowl. Would he become Ring of Fame worthy then?
I say yes.
Manning has played four seasons with the Broncos and thirteen active seasons with the Colts. Of those 17 total seasons, three of his four best seasons came while wearing the orange and blue. Including the greatest regular season by a quarterback in NFL history.
In Indianapolis, Manning was 1-1 in the Super Bowl. Under the scenario described above where he finishes his 2015 season with a Lombardi Trophy, Manning would be 1-1 in the Super Bowl in Denver as well.
That is a lot of "ifs", but even without those "ifs" I think he has outperformed every other quarterback not named John Elway that is currently in the Denver Broncos Ring of Fame. That alone should be enough, but we fans have become a pampered bunch, so winning that Super Bowl would go a long way in softening our hardened hearts.
