Demaryius Thomas set to have another record breaking season - Horse Tracks

Demaryius Thomas will be looking to set several Broncos records and even move up in the NFL historical record books with a solid game against the San Diego Chargers today.

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The 2015 season has been a challenging one for Demaryius Thomas as fans only remember the few big-time drops he had in critical losses down the stretch, but overall Thomas is on the cusp of another record setting year for the Denver Broncos.

The first two are Broncos records. Thomas needs a 100-yard receiving game to surpass Rod Smith for the most such games in Broncos history and with five catches he will become the only Bronco ever to surpass 105 catches in a season more than one time.

Not bad for a guy who has had to play for two different quarterbacks in 2015.

His biggest record will come with the 13th yard he gets against the San Diego Chargers. With that, he'll become just the 4th wide receiver in NFL history to top at least 90 catches,1200 yards and 5 touchdowns over four consecutive seasons joining Marvin Harrison, Torry Holt, and Jerry Rice as the only others to achieve that mark. Only Harrison has more than four.

Year GS Tgt Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng
2010 2 39 22 283 12.9 2 31
2011 5 70 32 551 17.2 4 47
2012 16 143 94 1434 15.3 10 71
2013 16 142 92 1430 15.5 14 78
2014 16 184 111 1619 14.6 11 86
2015 15 168 100 1187 11.9 5 48
Career 70 747 451 6504 14.4 46 86

As much as we wish Thomas had made two or three more catches (those aforementioned critical drops), we must take into account the fact that Peyton Manning is no longer throwing the ball. We have to assume there would be some chemistry issues with Brock Osweiler entering the lineup down the stretch.

The fact is, Thomas is one of the best wide receivers in football. There wouldn't be any "replacing" him. I hope he is a Bronco for a long, long time.
