Earlier this week, the Denver Broncos defense took a few shots at Brock Osweiler. They cannot wait to play him on Monday Night Football. Brandon Marshall got into the mix early, going so far as saying they just want to kill him.
“We know that Brock likes to hold the ball so I feel that we can get a lot of good pressure on him,” Marshall said on Monday. “Just watching their offense, I think this can be a great week for us, I can say that.”
By Tuesday, Marshall had decided they were going to obliterate Osweiler.
“We know Brock,” said Marshall. “He came from here and we just want to kill him. That’s what we want to do. I don’t think anybody in this locker room cares that he left. I think everybody’s happy – when you’re a player in this league, you’re happy when another player gets his money, when he gets what he’s due. So everybody in this locker room, nobody has any ill-will towards Brock.”
Chris Harris Jr. had some things to say as well. The secondary feels like they can get after Osweiler’s penchant to take risks with the football.
“It’s going to be great,” said Harris. “I’m pretty sure that he wants to win, we want to beat him bad and get a lot of interceptions.”
The Broncos are leading the league with 21 sacks and with the way Osweiler winds up to the throw the ball (see photo above), we could see Von Miller get himself a strip sack or two.
Osweiler, upon hearing all of the talking the Broncos defense was doing, jokingly responded saying, “It seems like they miss me.”
Jokes aside, the Broncos defense will likely hear of this and be completely honed in on destroying Osweiler in this matchup. It could be akin to what they did to Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers last season, but we’ll just have to wait and see about that.
"I know how talented the defense is," Osweiler said. "I'm not blind to that. They're Super Bowl champions for a reason."
Perhaps Osweiler realized his error as he followed up with a bit of a backtrack and a show of respect. I doubt T.J. Ward and the No Fly Zone will care about that.
This is going to be a great football game.
