Horse Tracks: Did Paxton Lynch just take Trevor Siemian's job?

Despite losing Siemian to injury, it doesn't get much better than 4-0.

Despite the Broncos terrific defensive performance against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, the buzz coming out of Sunday's game is all about Denver's quarterback.

Trevor Siemian was off to a terrific start, going 5 of 7 for 68-yards and a touchdown. Then he was slammed into the turf and was carted into the locker room. All that talk about how Trevor was now and Paxton Lynch was the future came to a head. The future was now.

When it looked like hope could be lost, Paxton Lynch entered the game.

Pirate jokes aside, the kid did a masterful job playing in the shotgun and under center. Throwing for 170 yards and a touchdown isn't a bad way to debut. Heck, former first round pick Jameis Winston only got 9 more yards on many more attempts with no touchdowns, and he played the entire game.

So what now?

Paxton Lynch was selected to be the future, but Trevor Siemian has brought us this far. The word on the street is that Siemain's injury isn't severe and so the Broncos will have some tough decisions to make. No matter what that decision is, Broncos Country will have feelings about it. Don't expect the debate to die down anytime soon. No matter who is picked to start, not everybody will be happy.

Personally, I think we have to stick with Lynch. He looked good out there against Tampa and if his ceiling is indeed higher than what we saw on Sunday, let's help him reach that potential with a start against Atlanta this week. If not now, when? Then there's Trevor Siemian. His trade value may not get any higher than it is right now. He's demonstrated he can play at this level and I'm all for him getting a shot somewhere else... if the price is right. You hear that, Jets? I'm talking loudly in your direction.
