WHO: DeMarcus Ware, Broncos Linebacker
WHAT: Nominated for the sixth annual “Salute to Service Award presented by USAA”
WHEN: Finalists for the award are announced in January. The recipient will be recognized at the “6th Annual NFL Honors” awards show in Houston on FOX on Saturday, Feb. 4, the night before the Super Bowl.
WHY: As someone who has close ties with the military, the Broncos are proud to nominate Demarcus Ware for the Salute to Service award. In addition to his annual support of the team’s Salute to Service outreach in the month of November, Ware continues to proactively organize and participate in military support and outreach on his own. As part of President Barack Obama’s United We Serve initiative and Military Family Network, Ware helped promote the importance of physical fitness for our nation’s children. Additionally, Ware has had numerous family members serve in the military and will honor the Air Force with a sticker decal on his helmet this November.
