From 1960 to about 1975, there was no rivalry between the Denver Broncos and Oakland Raiders. The Broncos were a doormat to the rest of the league. An embarrassment. Then it all changed forever. From 1975 to 2004, the rivalry between the two franchises was among the greatest in the NFL.
If you are old enough to remember, you know what I'm talking about. The rivalry for me went beyond the two teams and into sibling rivalry as my younger brother became a die hard Raider fan to my die hard Broncomania. It was always fun during Raider week as we talked so much trash.
That trash talk hasn't existed for the last 12 years. It hasn't been a rivalry. The Raiders were doormats, much like the Broncos of old. Until this week. The rivalry is now reborn. And I couldn't be happier about it. What does this rivalry mean to you and how much more gratifying will be it be if the Broncos win tonight.
