The Denver Broncos suffered another blow on the injury front as Derek Wolfe has a hairline fracture in his elbow that will cause the star defensive end to miss some time on the field.
According to Troy Renck, Wolfe told KMGH-TV of the hairline fracture. It seemed, at times, the only man holding back the tide in run defense was Wolfe. This is going to hurt the Broncos defense in a big way.
When Wolfe left the game, rookie Adam Gotsis came into the game to fill his role. He’ll likely split time with Billy Winn and maybe even Darius Kilgo who was inactive for Sunday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
Whoever ends up taking the spot, it is unlikely they will be able to fully replace Wolfe’s production. Through eight games, he collected 29 tackles and 4.5 sacks.
