The Broncos have announced that running back Kapri Bibbs will be placed on Injured Reserve after spraining his ankle yesterday against the Jaguars.
Just as it seemed Bibbs was hitting his stride and making a case to be the No. 1 running back, Bibbs suffered a left ankle injury at the end of the first half and did not return to the game.
Bibbs had been responsible for getting the Broncos close to the goal line and setting up the only offensive touchdown on the day, which came from Devontae Booker (along with a nice drag from Russell Okung).
In just the two quarters he played, the former CSU Ram had five carries for 49 yards against the Jaguars, including a long run of 24, with a 9.8 yards-per-carry average.
With just Devontae Booker as the only running back and Juwan Thompson playing both running back and fullback, Broncos claimed Justin Forsett off waivers earlier today. Although Bibbs’ injury could be two to four weeks recovery, the Broncos put him on IR for the roster spot.
Forsett’s best year as a running back came with the Ravens in 2014 under Kubiak as offensive coordinator. Forsett ran for 1,266 yards that season.
The Broncos have lost their No. 1 and No. 3 backs to IR this season. C.J. Anderson is eligible to return to practice Week 15.
I will enjoy the rest of the season cheering on my teammates as we win another super bowl— 3KingBibbs5 (@KapriBibbs) December 5, 2016
