Horse Tracks: Broncos expected to receive three compensatory picks

New, comments

Good Morning Broncos Country!

A total of 32 compensatory picks are awarded each year to teams that have lost more or better compensatory free agents than they signed in the previous year. These picks cannot be traded(They will be tradeable next season) and are award between rounds 3 and 7. These picks will take place at the end of each round.

The guys over at Over The Cap project how many compensatory picks each team will receive, and in which rounds.

I think Broncos fans will like their projections.

comp picks

According to Over The Cap, the Broncos will be receiving an extra 3rd round pick, a 4th round pick, and a 6th round pick

These extra four picks will give the Broncos a total of 10 draft picks in the 2016 NFL Draft.

  • 1st Round Selection (Original)
  • 2nd Round Selection (Original)
  • 3rd Round Selection (Original)
  • 3rd Round Selection (Projected compensatory for Julius Thomas)
  • 4th Round Selection (Projected compensatory for Orlando Franklin)
  • 5th Round Selection (Via Baltimore)
  • 6th Round Selection (Projected compensatory for Terrance Knighton)
  • 7th Round Selection (Via San Francisco)
  • 7th Round Selection (Via Houston)
  • 7th Round Selection (Original)

There is a chance that the Broncos receive an extra 7th round pick as well. For that to happen, if at least one of Sam Acho and Rob Housler do not qualify, Alex Carrington and Nick Bellore qualify, and Seyi Ajirotutu does not qualify, Denver will get a 7th for Jacob Tamme into the 32-pick limit.
