Von Miller thinks he'll get a long-term deal in Denver; wants a Super Bowl repeat

Denver Broncos linebacker and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller spoke to the media on Thursday and he addressed a couple things. He told reporters that he believes that the Broncos can repeat as Super Bowl Champions, he talked about his chances of reaching a long-term deal with the Broncos and talked about DeMarcus Ware.

The Broncos are probably losing some talent on the defensive side of the ball this offseason, but Von Miller still believes there is enough talent around to reach Super Bowl 51.

"It feels like I've been here before -- we talked about winning the Super Bowl so much in the locker room,'' Miller said. "At the table where we sit all the time, Emmanuel, me, Talib, T.J., we talked about it so much. It feels like I've been here before. Chris Harris, all the guys, we've talked about this, dreamed it, in the locker room, it's surreal to be able to experience it. We've got plans of doing this again. We don't want it to be a one-year thing.''

He's right, the core of the Denver Broncos defense is returning for the 2016 season. The entire secondary will stay the same, Von, Ware, Shaq, and Ray will still be at linebacker, Derek Wolfe, and Sly will still be upfront, and Brandon Marshall will be roaming the middle of the defense.

General Manager John Elway will likely have to find replacements for defensive end Malik Jackson and linebacker Danny Trevathan, but the core of the team will remain.

For Von Miller, it's not a matter of if, but when the Broncos will place the Franchise Tag on linebacker Von Miller. From there, both sides will have until July 15th to reach a long-term deal. Miller said Thursday that he expects this to get done.

"I put in all the work I can possibly do,'' Miller said. "If I was with any other organization, if I was with any other team, maybe I'd be worried about everything, but I've got John Elway. He's played, he's had experience with this whole process. I feel comfortable. Me and John's relationship is great: He was there when I was going through stuff and he never wavered. I feel like we won't waver now either. It will be a great experience, and it will be peaceful -- there's no reason for it not to be.''

Miller has repeated this statement dating back to Training Camp when he was asked about his expiring contract. I really do not see this being a dramatic situation by both sides. It will go smoothly, and both sides will leave the table happy with the outcome.

A big reason why Von Miller is even in this situation is because of teammate and mentor DeMarcus Ware. He took Miller under his wing when he was going through some hard times, and helped turn him into the man he is today. Von was asked if he thought Ware would be returning next season and he said yes,"We need him back".

"Most definitely, I definitely think he's going to be back,'' Miller said. "We need him back. You saw the job he did, not only with me, but with everybody in the locker room. That alone is worth every penny, then when you add in his pass rush, all the skill he still has, of course I would like to keep DeMarcus and think he will be back.''

I do not think Ware is going anywhere this offseason. He still has plenty left in the tank, and he means too much to Von Miller and the team. He is a respected leader and mentor. You need to keep him around.

Now with that said, I do believe the Broncos will approach him about a pay cut or restructure to free up so more cap space.

Von Miller has been making his post-Super Bowl rounds these past weeks. He was on Saturday Night live, the Grammy's, the NBA All-Star Game, and many other events since. It's what you do when you're named the Super Bowl MVP, but this hasn't stopped Von from planning out his offseason.

"I've got my workouts planned, this following Monday,'' Miller said. "I plan on proving a point, just taking two weeks off, exactly, and I'm going to get back at it. That's what I've done previous two years and what I'm going to do now.''

The Broncos have a great one in Von Miller, and they are going to make sure he is in a Denver Broncos uniform for a very long time.
