Offensive tackle or tight end? A bulk of the pre-combine mock drafts have the Denver Broncos targeting either Jason Spriggs or Hunter Henry. One an offensive tackle, the other a tight end.
Frankly, it might make more sense to pick up a tight end if John Elway is able to get some guys healthy on the offensive line. First step would be restructuring Ryan Clady to a more friendly contract. Clady is a good fit for the zone scheme, but Elway will definitely need to draft or sign a better backup option in case he cannot stay healthy.
The second step would be to let Louis Vasquez go and resign Evan Mathis. Vasquez doesn't appear to be a good fit for the kind of play calls that are needed in this running game, while Mathis does appear to be so. Doing so will allow Ty Sambrailo to come in at right tackle and Max Garcia in at guard. Matt Paradis is clearly a quality starting center already in his young career.
Given all that, picking up a tight end could be a good choice with the 31st pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. This graph is continually updated as more mock drafts are compiled by SB Nation, which will be a pretty fun way to keep track of things.
