Denver Broncos cornerback Chris Harris Jr. spoke with News On 6's Porsha Richardson recently and was asked about soon to be free agent quarterback Brock Osweiler.

Harris told Richardson that Osweiler stepped up during Peyton Manning's absence. During Manning's six and a half game absence, Osweiler led the Broncos to a 5-2 record while passing for 1,967 yards, 10 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. During those seven games, Osweiler led the Broncos to big wins over the New England Patriots and the Cincinnati Bengals. These two wins were a big reason why the Broncos had home-field advantage throughout the postseason.

Osweiler is now a soon to be free agent and his future with the Broncos is up in the air right now. The Broncos still have a few weeks to work out a deal with Osweiler before the beginning of free agency. If they do not, he will hit the market and quarterback-needy teams like the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, Philidelphia Eagles, and Los Angeles Rams would be free to open their checks books for Osweiler.

However, cornerback Chris Harris Jr. doesn't believe those teams will have a chance to sign Osweiler. The Broncos All-Pro corner believes that Osweiler will be back with the Broncos next season.

"I think Brock will be back. I’m excited to play with him," said Harris. "I think he did a great job filling in for when Peyton was hurt. Mostly, everybody on the defense will be back so I’m excited to continue to play with those guys. Like I said, a lot of us are young. We’re a young defense so we’re going to continue to get better and do whatever we can to help stay in the number one rankings on defense and then also to be able to repeat."

Harris is confident that with Osweiler being back and a majority of the Broncos defense returning for 2016 that the Broncos can repeat as Super Bowl champions.

"When you win a championship, it kind of makes you hungrier. Me being 26, kind of makes you feel like you don’t want anybody to take this from you," added Harris. "I’m kind of eager to already start back training and start back working because you don’t want anybody to take this Super Bowl championship away from you. We’re the champs now, so we want to defend it."

I like the Broncos chances of defending their Super Bowl Championship.

You have to assume that we will see a better offensive showing from the Broncos next season. The quarterback play wasn't great this past season, so any improvement there would help a lot. Also, the offensive line figures to be healthier and better next season. Add that with Wade Phillips and a majority of the Broncos defense returning, the Broncos could be your Super Bowl 51 Champs.
