Horse Tracks: The NFL Scouting Combine kicks in gear

New, comments

A handful of prospects started making their way to the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis yesterday, but more arrivals and media interviews are scheduled for today.

Brian Spurlock-USA TODAY Sports

Good Morning, Broncos Country.

Are you as excited as I am for the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine?

The action kicked off yesterday in Indianapolis with the arrival of special teams players, running backs and offensive lineman who registered, underwent examinations, orientation and were able to meet with teams to interview.

Today, that group of players will be measured, have media interviews and undergo full medical examinations.  They will also be joined by quarterbacks, wide receivers and tight ends who will be going through the same motions as they did on Tuesday.

The next few days will be important to teams to see if the crop of prospects meet their desires and requirements.  The interviews will help scouts and teams gauge the character and football acumen of these aspiring NFL players, and the medical examinations will certainly play an integral role in how respective teams formulate a final grade on them.

If you aren't a fan of these formalities and strictly are interested in their on the field drills, those begin this Friday and will continue through this weekend. For a full listing of the weeks' events related to the 2016 NFL Scouting Combine, click here.

The Broncos and various team representatives will be busy this week scouting players, formulating draft plans and discussing long-term contracts with the players on the roster scheduled to hit free agency.  The rest of the week should be very informative and interesting, and should tell us a lot about the future identity that will be forged for the franchise. Stay tuned with us here at Mile High Report to get all the details surrounding the NFL Draft, free agency and more.

As always, thanks for reading and have a wonderful Wednesday.  Here are today's Horse Tracks.
