Report: Los Angeles Rams interested in signing Peyton Manning next season

Could we see Manning is a Rams uniform in 2016?

Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, if Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning does not retire after this year, the Los Angeles Rams might be interested in Manning's services.

According to Schefter, the Rams decision makers have had internal discussions about bringing Manning in if he wants to play one final year.

First Manning would have to decide to come back for the 2016 season, but that seems unlikely right now. He's coming off a season where he dealt with multiple injuries, an extended period of time off due to injury, declining ability, and he has hinted that Super Bowl 50 would be his last rodeo.

If the soon to be 40-year-old quarterback does decide to come back, the first thing that will have to be decided is if the Broncos would even take Manning back? That seems highly unlikely as well. The Broncos seem set with Brock Osweiler as the future of the Franchise, and will need all the cap space to sign him and other key free agents. Manning is due to cost $21.5 million dollars against the cap, so parting ways seems like an easy decision for the Broncos.

If all that does happen, the Rams would then have their chance to sign Peyton Manning.

With the Rams moving to Los Angeles, signing a big name like Peyton Manning would help draw in the fans to their new team. Manning always draws a crowd so I understand their interest despite Manning's age and current skill level.

In the end, I think Peyton Manning will retire after Super Bowl 50(especially after winning it!), and we will be spared this drama. If not? the next few weeks after the Super Bowl will be another eventful one for the Broncos.
