Bill Romanowski: 'I think you can beat this guy, I really do.'

New, comments

As media week came to end, Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro of The Afternoon Drive caught up with former Denver Broncos linebacker Bill Romanowski to talk about Super Bowl 50. The 4-time Super Bowl champion had a few insights into this Broncos run and why he thinks the Carolina Panthers are going to have their hands full on Sunday.

On rooting for Gary Kubiak and the Broncos in Super Bowl 50

"Absolutely, and being back in Denver a couple months ago for Pat Bowlen being inducted into the Ring of Fame; being around Gary and the coaching staff - stuff like that. I'll tell you what, I was like 'This guy hasn't changed, what a great guy' and he had grown quite a bit in how he addressed the team. He had us out on Saturday and he had Rod Smith talk to the team and we broke down the team, you know, all the old guys. You know, just talking to the players and seeing the atmosphere, you know, it had a similar atmosphere to when I was back there in the mid to late 90s winning Super Bowls."

On how he would take Cam Newton down in the open field

"Well, I would hope that I would be the guy that planted a helmet right between his chinstrap and his neck. [chuckling] Hey, at the end of the day he is a great football player, but I will say this right now that I feel like he's too loose. And I think you can beat this guy, I really do. I think the Broncos will win this football game."

Bonus Listen

Eric and Les talked to Steve Mariucci who discussed how he would attack this Broncos defense in the Super Bowl.
