Rumor: Colin Kaepernick to Broncos "will happen, given time."

It's reportedly only a matter of time until Kaepernick will be the Broncos starting quarterback.

According to Benjamin Allbright, it is reportedly only a matter of time until the Denver Broncos trade with the San Fransisco 49ers for Colin Kaepernick.

A source told him that they "firmly believe" that Kaepernick to the Broncos "will happen, given time".

The last update we had on Kaepernick was that trade talks were at an "impasse" at that time according to the Sacramento Bee's, Matt Barrows.

Also, it was reported that the Denver Broncos value Kaepernick at a fourth round pick while the 49ers are reportedly asking for a late second or third round pick in return for Kaepernick. Most likely the 49ers are eyeing the Broncos late second round pick.

The main competition for the Broncos for Kaepernick's services appears to be the Cleveland Browns, but there's one problem. Kaepernick really does not want to play for them despite having Hue Jackson, a Head Coach who Kap would really like to play for. The Browns are asking Kaepernick to restructure his deal, but he isn't willing to take less to play for them. Kaepernick reportedly would rather play for the Broncos because they provide him a better situation going forward, and he is willing to restructure with them. This should give the Broncos a bit of a lead in the trade talks.

There is a bit of a deadline for this trade and that is April 1st. If Kaepernick is on the 49ers roster on April 1st his $11.9 base salary becomes fully guaranteed that day. So if a trade were to happen, it would most likely come before that day. One scenario that could play out is the 49ers just keeping Kaepernick, and now that appears likely according to CSN Bay Area's Matt Maiocco.

Head Coach Chip Kelly would like Kaepernick to stick around and compete for the starting job with Blaine Gabbert. Also, Kelly said if Kaepernick is on the team after April 1st that he is going to "coach the heck" out of him.

"If he’s here on April 4, we’re going to coach the heck out of him and he’s going to work his ass off,"

Considering the previous reports were stating that the Broncos and 49ers were in a stalemate, this report could be viewed as the 49ers trying to make the Broncos flinch.

Putting out reports that Kaepernick is now "likely to stay" could force the Broncos to cave and give the 49ers the compensation they are seeking.

It just seems like the two sides are just working the media until the April 1st deadline creeps up on them. It really sounds like this deal is going to get done at some point like Allbright tweeted out.

The Broncos need a quarterback and Kaepernick doesn't want to be with the 49ers. The Browns are a player but as I said prior, Kaepernick isn't willing to restructure his contract for them. So it seems like it is down to just the Broncos.

So I believe this deal will happen, given time.
