Report: Broncos are the team "most interested" in Colin Kaepernick

With all 32 teams top decision makers traveling to Boca Raton, Florida to take part in the NFL Owner Meetings, the Broncos are expected to talk to the 49ers about Colin Kaepernick.

Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway and San Fransisco 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke have formed a friendship over the years, so these two could have friendly talks about Kaepernick and potentially get something done.

There have been multiple different reports stating that the Broncos seem like the favorite to land Kaepernick, and those reports have continued as the Owner Meetings begin.

According to CBS's Jason La Canfora, the Denver Broncos are the team that seems to be most interested in getting a trade done.

This backs up a report from Benjamin Allbright stating that a source told him that Kaepernick to the Broncos "will happen, given time".

Canfora goes on to say that other teams seem to be calling the 49ers bluff about keeping the disgruntled quarterback. Kaepernick's $12 million base salary becomes fully guaranteed on April 1st and it appears that some teams believe that the 49ers will eventually end up releasing him at this deadline. The 49ers have continued to deny these reports and said that they are looking forward to having him on the roster and present for OTA's.

It sounds like John Elway would like to get something done prior to this deadline, but he isn't panicking about the team's quarterback situation and won't end up overbidding for the Kaepernick.

The Broncos don't seem overly concerned about their poor quarterback position. Numerous execs and agents who have been in contact with John Elway say he is just as cool in private about the situation as he appears publically. I wouldn't bet on him over-bidding on Kaepernick and if does end up taking a flier on someone like Robert Griffin III, I would expect it to be at the team's price.

The Broncos reportedly value Kaepernick at a fourth round pick while the 49ers are reportedly seeking the Broncos second round pick. Something will eventually have to give there if either side wants to complete a trade.

One thing that may help get this deal done is the potential trade of Ryan Clady. If a trade does happen, the Broncos will probably net another mid-to-late round draft that they can use to sweeten their offer a bit for Kaepernick.

With the Broncos and 49ers decision makers meeting face to face this week, there is a chance that we get some sort of resolution on the Kaepernick front.
