Demaryius Thomas will have another big year in 2016

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

There is a loud contingent of Denver Broncos fans who have completely turned on Demaryius Thomas after a 2015 season they insist he played horribly in. I'll concede that Thomas had some poor performances and disappeared at times, but he still somehow quietly put up some monster stats.

Year GS Tgt Rec Yds Y/R TD Lng Y/G
2010 2 39 22 283 12.9 2 31 28.3
2011 5 70 32 551 17.2 4 47 50.1
2012 16 143 94 1434 15.3 10 71 89.6
2013 16 142 92 1430 15.5 14 78 89.4
2014 16 184 111 1619 14.6 11 86 101.2
2015 16 177 105 1304 12.4 6 72 81.5
Career 71 755 456 6621 14.5 47 86 77.9

The frustration with the drops and DT's inability to compete against the more physical cornerbacks in the NFL is where these fans push their #tradeDT agenda. Frankly, I can live with the drops as that is just a natural aspect of being targeted more than most wide receivers in the NFL. His inability to find success against elite physical corners is definitely troubling.

In 2016, we must see Thomas use his physical gifts and start abusing his opponents. He has done it in the past, so I have to believe he could do it again.

Eric Goodman of The Afternoon Drive had Ryan Edwards on and they also touched on this subject. They identified the same issues I mentioned above, but also noted that Thomas had to deal with an entire offense that was anemic, a body failing on Peyton Manning and an inconsistent Brock Osweiler.

The Afternoon Drive has Nick Ferguson on to talk about his thoughts on the Broncos offseason happenings.
