The Denver Broncos traded up in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft to select quarterback Paxton Lynch. They sent a third round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in exchange for the 26th overall pick. Meanwhile, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones was trying to make the same trade, and he even thought he had the trade done at one point. Unfortunately for Jones, the Seahawks went with the Broncos offer leaving Jones without Paxton Lynch.
While John Elway celebrated making this deal landing his potential Franchise quarterback, Jones lost sleep over missing out on Paxton Lynch.

Jones says he barely slept that night and was talking to people about how he messed everything up.
"I got to bed about 3 thinking about the Lynch thing, got up at 6 and before the morning was over had talked to six people about how I messed it up," Jones said Saturday. "I was still mad about it the next morning."
According to ESPN's Todd Archer, the Cowboys offered the Seahawks their 2nd and 3rd round picks for the Seahawks 26th overall pick while the Broncos offered their 1st round and 3rd round pick. Ultimately getting that fifth-year option for the Seahawks first round pick is the reason why they went with the Broncos offer.
Jones says he regrets not "overpaying" for the Seahawks 26th overall pick.
"I really have added it up, and you all don’t need philosophy here but … when I look back on my life I’ve overpaid for my big successes every time, and when I’ve tried to get a bargain or get a little cheaper or get a better deal on it, I ended up usually either getting it and not happy I got it or missing it," Jones said. I probably should have overpaid here."
Many Broncos fans were upset that the Broncos gave up a third-round pick to trade up and select Lynch and even called it a "reach" on Thursday night. Now knowing how badly Jones wanted Lynch shows that Elway didn't "reach" at all for Paxton Lynch.
Elway used his surplus of draft picks to move up and get the player he targeted all along and made Jerry Jones lose sleep that night. That is a pretty good night for Elway and the Broncos.
Sorry Jerry, Paxton Lynch is a Bronco.
