Report: Von Miller, Broncos put contract talks on hold for the day

Von Miller Watch (day way too many). You know, similar to "Anchorman Man" with its "Panda Watch." All are transfixed on what will happen with the Super Bowl MVP and the Denver Broncos.

At this point, it’s just a matter of "when," not "if," this deal gets done.

For those hopeful they would see resolution this weekend (me among them), Mike Klis put an end to that with his report on Sunday. Per Klis, "The two parties are expected to think about where they are in negotiations Sunday, but not necessarily talk about it. Talks are expected to resume Monday."

What we do know at this point is that John Elway and Denver made two offers to Miller and his agent Joby Branion between Thursday and Friday, the latter of which still has neither been accepted nor rejected by Miller and his team. As Klis points out, the negotiations are still ongoing, they’re just resting at this point.

According to Klis’ reporting, the Broncos twice improved the guaranteed portion of their six-year, $114.5 million offer to Miller through early trigger language and dollars, with recent reports putting the guaranteed number at $61 million. Elway and Branion spoke again Saturday, Klis said in his story.

My guess is that Miller and the Broncos will agree to a deal by at least Tuesday. That would turn into a win since we won’t have to deal with the constant speculation and manufactured drama all week.

That would allow Elway to turn his attention to Emmanuel Sanders, with plenty of time to get the receiver extended before the start of training camp on July 28.

As for the Miller Watch, it appears we are finally closing in on a resolution.
