Horse Tracks: T.J. Ward is right to say that this Denver Broncos defense could become best of all-time

Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos fiery leader in the secondary, T.J. Ward, told Cameron Wolfe from the Denver Post that he believed this defense could become the greatest defense of all-time.

"There is no ceiling," Ward said of this defense. "We can be as good as we want to be. We can become the best defense of all time. That’s what we’re working toward."

With the reigning Super Bowl champions returning 10 of their top 12 defenders from 2015, they should be every bit as good as they were on their historic championship run. Already, Pro Football Focus has named their front seven as the NFL's best. As if that weren't evidence enough, PFF also named the Broncos secondary as the NFL's best.

All signs point to another dominating performance in 2016. Whether they'll be able to carry the likes of Mark Sanchez or rookie Paxton Lynch to a repeat title is not yet known, but if it can be done it could be done by this unit.
