Broncos preseason: The wide receiver battle is heating up

New, comments

While Eric Goodman is on vacation, Les Shapiro is driving the ship at the Afternoon Drive. With the Broncos first preseason game in the books, it was all about recapping the game. James Palmer of the NFL Network joined Les to discuss the game.

Joel Dreesen joined the AD to help with the game recap, and he had some pretty interesting takes on different position battles. Dreesen needed some help remembering Cody Latimer’s name. Once he did, he and Palmer took some time to talk about his potential in the offense. Latimer looked good in the game, and he may have taken a step toward cementing himself in the third receiver spot.

Bennie Fowler impressed Dreesen with his special teams play, and the back of the receiving depth chart is a big battle. Jordan Norwood has a shot at making the team as a return specialist, and DeVier Posey could slide into the 5th spot with his experience in the offense.

Bonus Listen

Shapiro and Palmer decided to give their takes on who they think the Broncos starter at QB should be. Palmer was feeling the Siemian train. He must be looking to get off on the career backup stop.
