Ty Sambrailo week to week with elbow injury

The injury sustained in practice is more serious than originally thought upon further evaluation.

Apparently, Denver Broncos offensive lineman Ty Sambrailo’s elbow injury is more serious than originally thought, according to Mike Klis of Channel 9 News.

Sambrailo hyper extended his elbow a few days ago in practice and has been wearing a pretty serious brace ever since. Kubiak has mentioned over the course of the last few days when asked about Ty that he could be back any day and he was “day to day”. Now the report coming out today states that he could miss several weeks but Denver is still hopeful that he could be ready by the opening game against Carolina.

This has huge repercussions for the starting RG position as Sambrailo was slotted to take that spot heading into camp. However, even if he does make it back in time, I don’t see him getting the starting role since he has had barely any practice time, and is learning a new position.

In his absence Darrion Weems and Michael Schofield become the favorites to take over the starting RG, which would leave us down a swing tackle if Michael Schofield wins the position. Another possibility is that Connor McGovern could step up and compete for the job.

Not good news for an already tumultuous offensive line and for the career of a second round draft pick that has been off to a rocky start to say the least. Hopefully Sambrailo can make it back soon.
