Dan Fouts sees the Broncos and Bengals as a tossup

The HOF quarterback is calling the game on Sunday and sees the great Denver defense as the equalizer.

Long-time fans of the Denver Broncos know all about Dan Fouts. Not as a broadcaster for CBS per se, but as the Hall of Fame-quarterback for the San Diego Chargers.

With him calling the game between the Broncos and Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro from The Afternoon Drive asked Fouts how he would attack this Broncos defense.

Fouts said since this defense has no weaknesses, you have to have balance on offense. What makes that so tough is Von Miller is so good against the run. Most great pass rushers aren’t good in run defense so that makes the task even tougher for the Bengals. But without that balance, Fouts said, that chore is near impossible.

It’s an interesting perspective given Fouts led the Don Coryell (Air Coryell) offense in San Diego. It would be fun to watch that historic offense get on the field with this historic Denver defense and see what would happen.

As for the game on Sunday, Fouts sees this as a tossup with how both teams are struggling in the red zone. As Fouts said, the one big equalizer is the Broncos defense.

Bonus listen: Tim Lynch from MHR says Broncos fans aren’t worried about the team.
