Report: Broncos to let Vance Joseph leave without a deal

Vance Joseph came and he surprisingly went.

Kyle Terada-USA TODAY Sports

Today Miami Dolphins Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph interviewed for the Denver Broncos Head Coaching job, and many believed that the Broncos wouldn't let him leave without a contract if he indeed was their guy.

Well, Vance left and is now going to interview with the rival San Diego Chargers tomorrow and the San Fransisco 49ers on Friday.

Denver Broncos General Manager John Elway praised Joseph's leadership skills and his strong vision of what it takes to win after their nearly four-hour visit.

However, he is letting Joseph go without signing a contract. When it comes to coaches and free agents, Elway usually doesn't let them leave without signing, and when they do leave? They normally do not end up being a part of the team.

So now what?

The Broncos have interviewed all three of their candidates and have nothing lined up, so have they made their decision?

Unless they are allowing Vance to interview before accepting the job all signs point to Atlanta Falcons Offensive Coordinator Kyle Shanahan being the next Denver Broncos Head Coach. ESPN's Adam Schefter said last night that he "knows for a fact" that the Broncos came away very impressed with Shanahan, and ESPN's Jeff Legwold also called him the top candidate and favorite for the Broncos job.

Also keep in mind that this is the Head Coaching job that Kyle Shanahan was reportedly eyeing as well, so maybe this will get done.

So it again looks like it might be Kyle Shanahan's job right now. If Vance was the guy, he wouldn't be leaving to visit San Diego and San Fransisco 49ers. That is not how John Elway has worked in the past, and I doubt he is doing it in the present. Now nothing is official, but it is safe to assume that Kyle Shanahan is the favorite to be the Broncos next Head Coach.

Now if Kyle is the guy, here is the problem that Broncos fans face this weekend. Do you root for Kyle to lose so the Broncos can make it official? or do you root for Kyle's success continue against the tough Seahawks defense and pad his resume even more?

That is a tough one.

Update 6:22pm MT:

According to 9NEWS Denver's Mike Klis, Vance Joseph will indeed stay in Denver overnight but then fly out tomorrow morning to interview with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday.

Klis states that they could still communicate but doesn't seem like he's ready to sign a deal anytime soon.

Stay tuned!

Update 9:40om MT:

According to 9NEWS Denver's Mike Klis, the Broncos did not offer Vance Joseph a contract during their 4 hour(at least( interview.

The Broncos did not extend Joseph a contract offer following their interview at team headquarters Tuesday evening. Will the two sides get around to talking contract Tuesday night? If Joseph is allowed to fly Wednesday to San Diego, focus will turn to Shanahan as the Broncos’ leading candidate.

Now did they talk contract and money tonight? That remains seen.

As Klis states in his article, Elway needs to hurry up because Joseph has an interview scheduled with the San Diego Chargers on Wednesday.
