The Afternoon Drive caught up with CJ Anderson today after practice and got his thoughts on the upcoming game against the Giants.
Eric Goodman pointed out that the Giants defense has been pretty porous against the run, giving up an average of 139.0 yards per game on the ground, and Denver’s running game averages right around 140 yards per game.
Anderson wasn’t ready to stick a fork in the Giants defense, or chalk this up as an easy win.
I’ve first-hand seen in this league, if you don’t bring your A-game, you’ll get your tail kicked in this league. People say they’re 0-5 and this and that, but when you start naming some of the players like Landon Collins, Olivier Vernon, JPP .... they jump off of the tape and make plays on tape, so we gotta bring our A-game.
Anderson also alluded to the fact that they can’t just come in and expect a win like they did at Buffalo, which implies perhaps there were players overlooking the Bills a few weeks ago.
As we have been talking about all week, and Anderson seems to understand as well, you can’t take anything for granted in the NFL, and though the Broncos clearly look like the better team, they need to actually show it on the field on Sunday night.
Us having a veteran locker room, everyone understands that you have to do your job 100% with all the effort and do it as great as possible to get the outcome we want to have. You know at the end of the day, we’re playing for things. It’s not about the Giants, it’s about us.
It sounds like the players have the right mentality this time around. Here’s to hoping we see a complete game from the entire team.
