Horse Tracks: Disaster in Denver against the Giants

Broncos come out flat in loss to the New York Giants on Sunday

Well that was.... just awful. Broncos Country is waking up this Monday morning to the reality that their beloved team not just lost to one of the worst teams in football, but was soundly worked by them. What an embarrassment.

Sunday’s loss at home to the New York Giants was a total team effort. To lose in all three phases of the game is incredible, but to completely blow it like the Broncos did was truly remarkable.

I honestly don’t know how Trevor Siemian got 376-yards in Sunday’s game. Logic would dictate that Denver would have mustered more than 10-points, but that just didn’t happen. Drives bogged down and passes looked sloppy. The run game never got going and was abandoned early. Folks, the Broncos offense was downright putrid on Sunday.

Thankfully for Trevor and the boys, there is a bigger problem on the Broncos this Monday morning. There is something wrong with Brandon McManus. For a player as consistent as he has been in recent years, it’s shocking to see him not just struggle, but completely flail around like a fish out of water. Dude needs to start making these kicks or something drastic will need to be done.

The defense had a tough night. Frankly, I’m not even mad about that. For the last couple years, they’ve dragged around this lifeless cadaver of an offense around and luck was bound to run out sometime.

So there you have it. A total collapse in all three phases of the game contributed to a discouraging loss to one of the worst teams in professional football. That taste you have in your mouth this Monday morning ain’t from the winds of Greeley blowing this way, but rather reality. Ugh... What a damn disaster.

Needless to say, there’s plenty that needs to be fixed with this Denver Broncos football squad. Where to start? The answer is anywhere. Take your pick. There’s plenty of blame to go around and the Broncos best own up to their failures and quick, or this season is in jeopardy.
