There’s a popular cliche in the NFL.
Over the last half decade or so, it’s taken a life of its own. Everywhere you turn, this damn phrase pops up. In some instances it works, but for others it’s just plan lazy. This is one of the few times it actually works and it has to do with the Denver Broncos.
“Next man up.”
For the Broncos to have a chance on Sunday against division rival the Los Angeles Chargers, they will need that in a major way. On Thursday alone, Denver lost three players in practice. That’s on top of the two they lost from Sunday night’s games against the New York Giants. To say the Broncos are beat up right now is an understatement.
One of the players who has a glorious chance to prove his worth is receiver Jordan Taylor. On Friday’s The Afternoon Drive, Eric Goodman and Les Shapiro caught up with the young player who will serve as the punt returner and have a bigger role on the offense.
For the Broncos to come out of LA with a much-needed win, Taylor will have to rise to the occasion and become “the next man up.”
