The Denver Broncos basically have one available healthy offensive tackle on the active roster in Garett Bolles. They’ll be promoting from their own practice squad, but with the trade deadline approaching it might make sense to make a trade.
Unfortunately, the only rumor out there happens to be swirling around the Buffalo Bills and all of their tackles are currently struggling as badly as the Broncos right tackles have been struggling.
According to Pro Football Focus, the best tackle on the team is Dion Dawkins and he hasn’t been all that great. They certainly won’t trade their best offensive linemen, so here is how each has been graded so far in 2017:
- Dion Dawkins: 64.8 total, 54.1 pass, 72.4 run
- Jordan Mills: 49.4 total, 66.1 pass, 37.5 run
- Cordy Glenn: 48.1 total, 69.7 pass, 34.8 run
No offense, but do we really want to improve pass protection at the expense of the running game? The guy most likely being targeted in a trade is the backup, Cordy Glenn.
The Broncos are desperate, though, and teams around the league are having major offensive line issues at the tackle position. They may have little choice but to deal a draft pick to bring in a capable player who can hold down the position most of the time.
