Four Denver Broncos players returned to practice for today's 'jog-through', we will have updates for you on Shane Ray, Menelik Watson, Isaiah McKenzie and Paxton Lynch.

Emmanuel Sanders gave a heck a sound byte in an interview with Orange and Blue Radio this morning where he said, "Guys are getting open, they're not even playing us [in] man [-on-man coverage]. So to say, 'Guys aren't getting open', you can't break it down like that. It wasn't man, it was zone. That's all about knowing the direction to go with the football."

We will have much more from that interview.

We are also going to talk about Ian St. Clair's tweet from yesterday, where one of the Los Angeles Chargers scouts may or may not have given the keys for beating Trevor Siemian to one of Mile High Report’s own. Interesting, but what is most interesting were the observations and the fact that it was posted the evening before the game. Then the Chargers held Denver to zero points.

It's getting hot at the end of October.

Getting the gang back together.

Depending on when you read this Shane Ray should be back at practice. Ray is basically returning along the projected timeline that he was given via the NFL's injured reserve policy. Does Denver need him? Do you want to see what happens when you lineup Shane Ray inside and Shaquil Barrett outside at linebacker? This guy does.

Let's hope that rookie defensive end DeMarcus Walker likes the newfound freedom to play really well for one or two plays per game.

Speaking of Walker, guess what? He played for Florida State last season and the ACC has all kinds of scrambling athletes that Walker got used to chasing. Georgia Tech runs the Triple Option, Virginia Tech and Clemson run the spread, Wake Forest, Boston College and Virginia have the I-Formation.

Enter: Alex Smith (fantasy football's best quarterback this season, that's why you have heard so much about him this season compared to previous seasons).

I had to give you hope there, because I am going to bring you down, but I promise that it ends with Denver going 2-0 over the next two weeks.

A.J. Derby became a new father last week.

Mike McCoy being the high-character guy that he is decided that a pass to Derby on the third play of the game would make for a great story or maybe it was Trevor Siemian deciding to audible to a pass to Derby when Derby was substituted in for Jeff Heuerman (Heuerman and Virgil Green started the game at tight end)—either way that pass went for 23 yards.

And then Derby coughed it up. Fumble, recovered by Los Angeles Chargers weakside linebacker Jatavis Brown. The Broncos would not recover from the score that followed that turnover, because they did not score any points, because they're nice guys.

Vance Joseph got the head coaching job with one season of experience as a coordinator, he has been a position coach in every other NFL job that he has held. Joseph's first job in the NFL came when he was hired by (former Broncos defensive coordinator (Josh McDaniels), special team's (Dan Reeves) and linebacker's coach (Dan Reeves)) Mike Nolan when Nolan was the head coach of the San Francisco 49ers.

Leader of men, a nice guy. Mike McCoy, doesn't mind coaching the offense under Joseph, because he's a nice guy. Bill Musgrave was the Oakland Raiders' offensive coordinator last season, he is coaching the quarterbacks for John Elway in Denver, because he's a nice guy.

Jake Butt, a rookie tight end out of Michigan should have or should be returning to practice for the Broncos as well today (depending on when you read this).

At Michigan the Broncos rookie tight end had 138 receptions in 43 games resulting in 1,646 yards and 11 touchdowns in four seasons. Not exactly impressive, but he was named a First Team All-American twice, he won the Ozzie Newsome Award (best tight end in college football) his Junior season and the John Mackey Award (most outstanding tight end in college football).

There are a whole lot of tight ends on the Broncos though, Denver even employs a tight end on their practice squad (Austin Traylor). So, where does Butt place in a depth chart that includes Green, Heuerman and Derby?

We would recommend not getting your hopes up. Butt has not played any football of consequence since the Orange Bowl on December 30, 2016. He will take a few practices just to get some of the rookie stuff out of the way. He may take a few months before he can contribute to the Broncos significantly.

And finally the host of this injury shindig quarterback Paxton Lynch. This is where we have arrived.

When your offense can no longer get close enough to the goal line to kick a field goal, you light a match. if the Broncos could they would do it today, but they can not.

Denver still leads the league in total defense, they can get better at one category, points.

Here is the good news for the Broncos and Siemian, the Kansas City Chiefs are 29th in Total Defense. Siemian should and through game script will have a good game on Monday. He will probably have a good game against the Philadelphia Eagles as well, they rank 20th in Total Defense.

Siemian will likely be relieved on Monday night if he gets out of control and it will likely be Brock Osweiler who will relieve Siemian. Osweiler should have a good game, because the defense prepared for Siemian, but if Osweiler remains the starter for the game against Philadelphia, we will likely see a switch to a healthy Paxton Lynch in three weeks against the New England Patriots on Sunday night football.

A switch to a scrambling quarterback, like Lynch would cause a defense that had prepared for Siemian nightmares. With boxes loaded and secondaries in zone coverage, Lynch should be unleashed in a way that may be reminiscent of Tebow. Lynch averaged 6.6 yards-per-carry in the preseason.
