Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs injury report: Wolfe and Davis sit out practice

Here is your first injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Kansas City Chiefs.

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

The Broncos are coming off their second straight loss this weekend and look to get things back on track against their divisional rival the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football. However, they enter this important divisional matchup rather banged up. They have a total of 14 players listed on their injury report this week.

Like every other week, nose tackle Domata Peko, cornerback Aqib Talib, and running back Jamaal Charles get the first practice off. All three will be back on the practice field tomorrow for the Broncos.

Two defensive players who the Broncos will need this Monday night missed today’s practice. Run stuffers Derek Wolfe and Todd Davis sat out practice. It’s unclear if Davis is in danger of missing Monday night’s game, but it sounds like Derek Wolfe will be out there. With MVP candidate, rookie running back Kareem Hunt coming up, the Broncos defense will need everyone they can get to stop him.

Now for some more encouraging news. Quarterback Paxton Lynch returned to practice today putting in a limited session. With Trevor Siemian really struggling, a healthy Lynch could start pushing for playing time sooner rather than later.

Receiver’s Cody Latimer and Isaiah McKenzie also returned to practice today. It’s looking good that both will be back for Monday Night’s game.

Starting right tackle Menelik Watson appears to be on track to play this Monday night after sitting out last Sunday’s game with a calf injury. Despite his struggles, the Broncos would likely welcome him back to their starting lineup after last Sunday’s mess.

As for the Chiefs, they look fairly healthy coming into Monday Night’s game. Remember they played on Thursday Night Football last week and had a bit of a mini bye-week, so they’re feeling pretty good and fresh for this game.
