Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles injury report: Sanders and Davis return to practice

Here is your first injury report for the Denver Broncos and the Philadelphia Eagles.

NFL: Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Broncos took to the practice field for the first time this week. It’s a short week for the Broncos who played on Monday Night and also will have to travel east and play in an early game this weekend. So it’s going to be a quick and rough week for the Broncos, but they did get some good news today.

Rookie tight end Jake Butt and quarterback Chad Kelly returned to practice for their first time in their NFL career. Butt was recovering from a torn ACL while Kelly was dealing with a wrist injury.

Butt figures to be a player for the Broncos in the second half of the season, but Chad Kelly may have to wait until 2018 before he gets his shot. Head Coach Vance Joseph hinted that Kelly might be heading to the injured reserve here soon.

“Well simple numbers or his health. He’s had two injuries that he’s rehabbed hard from. He went today a little bit in practice. It was just OK. That has to happen by Monday. It’s almost clear with Chad.”

As for the Broncos injury report, they’re actually looking rather healthy. Starters Todd Davis and Emmanuel Sanders returned to practice this week after sitting out Monday Night’s game. Sanders return would give the Broncos a much-needed weapon on the offensive side of the ball while Davis would give the Broncos another run stuffer to stop the Eagles rushing attack.

One concerning injury from Monday Night’s game was to guard Ronald Leary. He suffered a biceps injury and those can be rather serious/season-ending injury. Thankfully for Leary and the Broncos, it appears he escape major injury and was a limited participant in today’s practice.

As for the Eagles, they’re rather healthy heading into Sunday’s game. Ronald Darby was limited today and close to returning to game action for the Eagles. Everyone else on their injury report was a full participant in today’s practice. So the Eagles are in a good spot as they prepare for to take on the Broncos.
