On its face, the 2017 season is lost.
At this point, the Denver Broncos are playing for where to select in the NFL Draft. The worse their record is, the better the pick. Oh, the good old catch 22. What will determine the direction the Broncos go in 2018 has a lot to do with what John Elway sees the remainder of the season.
As Adam Malnati and I said on the latest Mile High Report Radio Podcast, the last six games mean a ton for two people — Paxton Lynch and Bill Musgrave. Not to get carried away but both are playing and coaching for their NFL lives. If they show enough, they keep their jobs in Denver. If they don’t, Elway knows he needs to head down a different path.
@AdamMalnati16 & I are thankful the #Broncos finally came to their senses & will start @PaxtonLynch. We breakdown the changes & preview #RaidersWeek. Before you gorge on turkey & the games start, give a listen to the @MileHighReport Radio Podcast. https://t.co/pY2WLfMLg2

That adds excitement for the fans who haven’t had much of it the last 16 months. It also brings excitement for a lost season. At the very least Broncos Country will finally get an idea of where the Broncos will head in 2018. Will Lynch and Musgrave lead the way or does Elway start over?
Hold onto your butts, the 2017 season has meaning after all.
