Final injury report for #DENvsMIA:— Denver Broncos (@Broncos) December 1, 2017
• OUT: Derek Wolfe (neck), Domata Peko (knee), Ron Leary (back), Paxton Lynch (ankle)
• QUESTIONABLE: Jeff Heuerman (knee), Shane Ray (illness), Todd Davis (illness), DeMarcus Walker (illness)
Head Coach Vance Joseph announced Friday afternoon that they will be without starting defensive end Derek Wolfe and starting nose tackle Domata Peko for Sunday’s game. This is a big hit for the Broncos run defense. Also announced out was starting right guard Ron Leary.
Look for Adam Gotsis and Shelby Harris will likely start at defensive end while Zach Kerr will get the start at nose tackle in place of Peko.
With Ronald Leary also sitting out, guard/center Connor McGovern will get his first career start on Sunday at right guard. It won’t be an easy start with Ndamukong Suh lining up in the middle of the Miami defense.
“For a young guy to have the chance to have his first start, it will be fun to see. He’s worked hard. He’s played good in preseason. He’s played good in spot play this year. He’ll have a full game to play against, again, good competition in [DT] Ndamukong Suh and [DT] Jordan Phillips—top notch defensive lineman. It will be fun to see.”
It was also announced that Donald Stephenson will get the start at right tackle on Sunday so in other words, good luck Trevor Siemian.
The Broncos have a mini flu outbreak going on in the locker room currently. Shelby Harris, Shane Ray, Todd Davis, and DeMarcus Walker all are listed with illnesses. Their status will be something to watch as we draw closer to kick off.
